Jean Miller Tucker

Jean Ann Miller Tucker, 85, of Salem and formerly of Covington, died at her residence on

Wednesday, March 20, 2024.

Jean was born April 11, 1938, in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Ray and Madeline

Hughart Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie

Tucker, in 2014.

Mrs. Miller was a bookkeeper for the former Covington Grocery, retiring after many years of

service. She was a member of South Covington United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her cousins, Shirley Sheppard of Salem, Leila “Lee” Piercy of Fairlea, WV,

Sharon Sheppard, and her husband David Laughlin, of Salem, Scott and Stacey Sheppard of

Salem, Donna Piercy of Fairlea, WV, Leann Piercy-McMillion and her husband, Bill, of

Lewisburg, WV, and their children.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 12:00 PM from the graveside at

Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Bobby Pickle officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at Arritt Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Mrs. Miller’s name be made to:

South Covington United Methodist Church, 1911 S. Kadel Ave., Covington, VA 24426.

Caregivers and Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke.
