Jean Pedigo Brown

Jean Pedigo Brown of the Snow Creek community passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her home. She was born May 2, 1933, to Carl and Johnsie Pedigo. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ruben Brown; four siblings Ben Pedigo, Wade Pedigo, Charlotte Eggleston and Betty Atkins.

Jean and Ruben raised a family and a farm during their marriage. November 2018 Jean secretly married Jim Stinnett who brought love and joy to her later years. Jean loved having a secret even from her family. Sadly, Jim passed away 13 months after they wed.

She is survived by her children, Sue Stowe, Charlie (Lori) Brown, and Doug (Lynn) Brown; grandchildren, Erin (Jesse) McTighe, Jared (Ann Taylor) Brown, Morgan (G.W.) Wells, Carter Brown, and Tucker Brown; and great grandson George William Wells V (Quinn). She is also survived by her brother Robert (Loretta) Pedigo and sister-in-law, Kitty Pedigo.

Jean graduated from Martinsville High School and was employed at Lacy Manufacturing, later at Patrick & Henry Community College and always on the family farm.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services with Pastor Glenn Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2370 Snow Creek Rd., Martinsville, VA 24112 or to Snow Creek Rescue Squad, 7049 Snow Creek Rd., Penhook, VA 24137.
