Jerry Ray Hill

Jerry Ray Hill, Sr., 68, of Glade Hill, Virginia passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024. He was born December 29, 1955, in Dante County, Virginia to the late Claude Allen Hill and Dorothy Mae Pollard Hill.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Barton; brothers, Troy Hill and Jimmy Hill; and grandson, Gabriel Hill.Jerry attended Henry Fork Community Church and was a dedicated employee of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 147 in Norfolk, Virginia for forty years, where he worked as a crane operator. He loved visiting the beach, fishing, and taking care of his dogs, Dolly and Ellie. In his free time, he enjoyed racing cars, watching sports and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a character and never met a stranger. He enjoyed having a good time and lived life to the fullest.He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-one years, Mitzie Mattox Hill; daughters, Stacey Porter (Jason) and Angel Hill; sons, Jerry Ray Hill, Jr. (Sheena) and Matthew Hill (Joy); stepson, Bryant Hale (Ingrid); sister, Margaret Hughes; many grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.The family would like to give a Special Thank you to Carilion Hospice for their care and kindness for Jerry.Services will be held at a later date.Memorials can be made to Franklin County SPCA, 18401 Virgil H.
