Jerry Wade Scruggs

Jerry Wade Scruggs, 84, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024. He was born March 9, 1939, in Victoria, Virginia, to the late Jerry William Scruggs and Rosa Lee Woodall Scruggs.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Scruggs and Joyce Scruggs.Jerry was dedicated to the construction industry where he worked more than sixty years as a Masonry Contractor. He was a Former President of the Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie 3739. St. Jude’s was close to his heart, and he was a faithful supporter. Jerry was a good-hearted man, he would do anything for anyone in need, a man who supported his community. He will be greatly missed by his family and community.He is survived by his son, Jerry Robert Scruggs (Kimberly); mother of his son, Nancy Gail Scruggs; sisters, Geraldine Clark, Arlene Nucomb, Nita Estep and Julie Scruggs; brothers, Larry Scruggs, Benard Scruggs and Ronnie Scruggs; grandchildren, Jacob Scruggs, Hunter Swinney, Jonah Scruggs, Jordan Sink, Blake Hodges and Logan Hodges; great grandchildren, Benton Glidewell, Jason Scruggs, Hayleigh Scruggs, and Walker Swinney.The funeral will be Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Daniel Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
