Joan "Jo" Wright Roach

Joan “Jo” Wright Roach, 77, of Ridgeway, Virginia with her son and daughter at her bedside. She was born February 25, 1946, and passed away June 15, 2023.

Jo was a graduate of Drewry Mason High School. She married Franklin “Frank” D. Roach in 1966. She was employed at various automobile dealerships in Virginia, South Carolina and Florida, where Frank was stationed in the US Air Force. For over 50 years, Jo was an active member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church. She enjoyed nature, baking, and travelling.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Frank, her father Walter Lemon Wright, her mother Minnie Nichols Wright; sisters Vanessa Dale Wright and Vernie W. Lewis; and brothers Harold L. Wright, Harvey T. Wright and Jimmy L. Wright.

Jo is survived by a daughter Tammy R. Jones of Ridgeway and a son Brian F. Roach of Martinsville; sisters Linda W. Chrismon of Ruffin, NC; Margaret W. Beliczky of Eden, NC; Patricia W. Grubb (Joe) of Moneta, VA; Wanda W. Johnson of Eden, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo is also survived by five grandchildren. She was a loving “Nanny” to Amanda Brooke Jones, Olivia Grace Jones, Ruby Ariana Roach, Lily Ariel Roach and Eli Kolt Roach.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Martinsville, VA. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery, Martinsville, VA.
