Joann J. Webster

September 9, 1944 - September 13, 2024

JoAnn J. Webster, 80 years old, of Stillwater, Oklahoma passed away on September 13, 2024 peacefully. She was born September 9, 1944 to Joe and Grace Jamison in Roanoke, Virginia. Strode Funeral Home and Cremation are in charge of the arrangements.

JoAnn graduated from William Fleming High School in Roanoke in 1962, then attended the University of Richmond receiving her Bachelor's degree in science in 1966. She subsequently completed a Master's Degree in Biochemistry from Oklahoma State University in 1970.

JoAnn married Ed Webster in August 1966 and they shared a wonderful life together until Ed passed away in 2023. They were happily married for 57 years. JoAnn and Ed enjoyed traveling together, visiting almost all 50 states. Also doing cruises, to Alaska, through the Panama Canal, a European riverboat cruise, and a Disney Cruise with their grandson.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Ed and infant daughter Stacy, and parents Grace and Joe Jamison, brother Don Jamison and sister Gail Coker. JoAnn is survived by her daughter Karen Webster and daughter in love Frances Patterson, and her favorite grandson Parker Patterson (all of Stillwater), who brought her many smiles and much joy. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

During her career, JoAnn worked as a scientist. She had various positions that showcased her experience. She began her career in biochemistry at OSU, then moved on to Symex Corp where she contributed to the development of influenza testing. Her passion for research led her to working in clinical drug trials for Alzheimer's Disease for several years. Before beginning her work with the Alzheimer's Association in Tulsa, she found her most cherished role leading an Early Onset Alzheimer's Support group for patients and caregivers. She made lasting impact in many people's lives as they struggled through this difficult disease.

She was a dedicated member of University Heights Baptist Church in Stillwater and also at Southern Hills Baptist church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she taught children and adults in Sunday school and attending weekly women's Bible studies.

JoAnn's legacy of compassion, dedication and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Tulsa, an organization close to JoAnn's heart, or Valir Hospice who provided loving and compassionate care to JoAnn and the family at the end of life.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Stillwater. A memorial service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel.
