John Edmund Vernon

Mr. John Edmund Vernon, age 94, of Keeling, VA passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Brookdale Assisted Living, Danville, VA. Mr. Vernon was born May 12, 1932, in Danville, Virginia to the late Annie Bell Vernon and the late John Benjamin Vernon. He was married to Eula Crookshanks Vernon, who predeceased him.

Mr. Vernon worked as a welder and pipefitter for many years prior to his retirement. He will always be remembered as a kind and humble person to everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his son, Todd Vernon (Kimberli) and daughter, Polly Scarce, as well as grandchildren, Joanna Vernon, Wesley Vernon, and Nathan Vernon, and sister Nancy Wall.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Vernon was also predeceased by his son, John Vernon, Jr., sisters, Myrtle Chattin and Ruby Campbell, and brothers, Harry Vernon, Marvin Vernon, and Kenneth Vernon.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, Danville, VA, officiated by Pastor Mike Myers. Interment will follow the funeral service at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville. The family will receive friends, also at the West End Chapel of Norris Funeral Services, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service.
