John "Edward" Whitlow

John “Edward” Whitlow of Henry, VA, passed away on February 24, 2024, at the Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Henry on December 11, 1948, to the late Robert Lee Whitlow and the late Elsie Ratcliff Whitlow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: brothers William, Doug, and Robert Lee Jr.; sisters Hazel, Irene, Mildred, and Logene; and a special lifelong friend, Roger “Peanut” Goad.

Edward is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marjorie “Margie” Henegar Whitlow; son, John Robert “J.R.” Whitlow (Ashley) and daughter Wendy Whitlow; grandsons, Blaise Tatum and Jackson Whitlow; brother Bobby Whitlow (Brenda); nephews, Wesley “Lee” Whitlow (Tracy), Billy Joe Whitlow (Shannon), Chris Whitlow (Jennifer), James “Little Jr.” Whitlow (Jan), Jerry Whitlow (Dreama), Sammy Woods (Sheila); nieces, Sherri Naff (Phillip), and Beth Martin.

Edward gained extended friendships that became family: Rudy, Connie, David, Bernice, Hilda, Chris, Nacasha, Mikie, and the members of Flatwood Hunting Club.

All services will be private.
