John R. Johnson

John R. Johnson, Sr., 77, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Sovah Health of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on December 22, 1946, in North Haven, Connecticut to the late Elijah Johnson and Mabel McKinstry Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John R. Johnson, Jr. and his brother, Van Johnson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Johnson; brothers, Jimmy Johnson, and Bobby Johnson; grandchildren, Katie Southern, Travis Mathews, and James Hennessey; and his great-grandchildren, Elijah Southern, Jaxson Southern, Luna Mathews, and Luke Mathews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bullock Arnold officiating at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel.
