Johnnie Motley

Johnnie Motley, Jr. 87, entered into eternal peace in Danville Virginia at his home on Monday, January 9, 2023 surrounded by his family. “June” as he was affectionately called was born on September 27, 1935 to the late Johnnie Motley, Sr. and Marie Lipford Motley Logan. He was formerly married to Florence Reaves Motley and to this union, five children were born. June was an independent and strong man who loved life and enjoyed each day. All who came in contact with him knew of his entrepreneurial spirit and would often ride in “his taxi”. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Motley; three brothers, Thomas Logan, Willie Logan and Jimmy Logan; one sister, Clara Mae Fitzgerald; and a granddaughter, Breanna Golden. He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Raymond Motley of Key West, Florida, Junior and Bobby Motley of Columbus, Ohio; and a daughter, Lidia Bowman (James) of Danville, Virginia, and Lorie Jeffers of Danville, Virginia who he reared as a daughter; two sisters, Polly Mitchell of Danville, Virginia and Dorothy Turner of Ringgold, Virginia; sister-in-law, Geraldine Logan; brother-in-law, Curtis Fitzgerald; a devoted niece, Carol Turner who was his caregiver. June also leaves to cherish his memory a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends. A viewing will be held at Wilson Funeral Service, 179 Piney Forest Road, Danville, Virginia 24540, on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 P. M. to 8:00 P. M.
