Johnny C. Hoosier Obituary Johnny C. Hoosier, age 92, of Salem, Va., rejoiced when he finally saw the face of his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born on August 28, 1932, to the late Arthur and Dorothy Hoosier. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Rena Riddleberger; great-granddaughter, Clover Hilton; and his brothers, James and Gerald Hoosier; sisters-in-law, Judy and Janet Hoosier; sisters, Lucille and Rena Mae Hoosier.Remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of 72 years, Colleen B. Hoosier; son, David Hoosier and wife, Denise; and daughter, Rebecca Hoosier all of Salem, Va; son-in-law, David Riddleberger; grandchildren, John David Hoosier, April Sarver (Sheldon), Dana Hurt (Scott), Amanda Wade (Steve), Ashley Hilton (Jon); great-grandchildren, Jacob Sarver, Addy Sarver, Sadie Sarver, Zachary Sarver, Reagan Hurt, Kristie Hoosier, Sawyer Hilton, Iris Hilton; brother, Marshall Hoosier; sister-in-law, Nancy Hoosier; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.Johnny was a charter member of the Salem Church of God where he taught Sunday School and was on the Pastor’s Council for 55 years. He loved the Lord and his church family!A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem with Pastor Todd Stiffler officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va.Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the funeral home, and again from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.The family wants to extend their appreciation to the staff on floor 6 East at Lewis Gale Medical Center and to all who cared for Johnny and his family during his recent stay.In lieu of flowers, that family asks that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Hoosier’s honor to the Salem Church of God, P.O.
