Jonathan Ray Brown

Jonathan Ray Brown, 48, of Ferrum, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born in Stuart, Virginia, on October 13, 1977, to Leonard Ray Brown and Peggy Brown.

Jonathan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend whose kind and caring nature touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was the kind of person who would do anything for someone in need and was known for his willingness to care for and help others. His loving heart and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jonathan had a great passion for racing and was a race car driver who loved the excitement of being behind the wheel. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and looked forward to watching the races every Sunday. His love of racing was a special part of who he was and brought him great joy throughout his life.

In addition to his father, Leonard Ray Brown, Jonathan was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Fatboy, who held a special place in his heart.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Tonya Peters; his mother, Peggy Brown; his three children, Eddie Duke Jr. (Rita), Amber Kay Lankford (Sean), and Robert Peters; one stepson, Devyn Lyles; eight grandchildren, Michael Duke, Aaron Duke, Leah Duke, Chloe Duke, Brandon Gearhart, Riley Whelden, and Elizabeth Lankford; his beloved dog, Carmella; along with extended family and many friends.

Jonathan's life was one filled with love, family, friendship, and a willingness to be there for others. He will be remembered for his caring heart, his love of racing, and the many ways he made a difference in the lives of those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time they shared with him.
