Jonathan Shane Russell

Jonathan "Shane" Russell, 51, of Salem, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026. He was an active member and a faithful part of West Salem Baptist Church, where he also was the Custodian. Shane was a man of Godly morals and character and wanted to open others' eyes to the vital need to have Jesus as their Savior. He loved theology and stood firmly on his beliefs. He will be greatly missed but the family has the peace of knowing where he is and that he has been united with his Savior. Shane is preceded in death by his father, Luther Jerry Russell; maternal grandparents, Ray and Violet Richardson; and paternal grandparents, Luther and Lena Russell. He is survived by his mother, Linda Richardson Russell; brother, Jared Russell (Kim); nephew, Ethan Russell, as well as other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at West Salem Baptist Church on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., with Pastor Nick Schaffer officiating. Friends, family and church family are invited to share a meal of Shane's favorite foods which will be served at 5:30 p.m., in the church fellowship hall, prior to service time.
