Joseph Delmas Day

Joseph Delmas Day, 90, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in Sabine, WV on May 22, 1936 to the late Lunda Marie Ellison Day and the late Joe Thomas Day. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Brenda Miracle Day.

Joseph was of the Christian Faith and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict. Joseph worked for many years as a Mechanic at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, previous to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by two sons; William Allen Day and Michael Day (Shawn); five brothers; Roger Day (Ethel), Tommy Day (Zyanne), Benny Day, Joe Day Jr. (Joy), and Teddy Day; four grandchildren; Amanda Stewart, Justin Day, Brandon Day, and Aaron Day; and five great grandchildren; Laela Pelphrey, Malachi Stewart, Austin Day, Brandon Day Jr., and Emersyn Day.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by a son; Allen Poole; a brother; Elymus Day; and two sisters; Edna Philyaw and Evelyn Earles.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Medi Home Hospice, A Nurses Touch Home Health Care, his caregiver; Joan Day, and also the wonderful Miracle family for all their prayers and support. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the Bethel Baptist Church Family for their love and support during this difficult time.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 2:00pm at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Ronnie Pruitt officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service on the same day from 1-2:00pm also at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will be receiving friends and family at the residence.
