Joseph Eugene Kelly

Mr. Joseph Eugene “Joe” Kelly, 86, of Dobson, passed away Tuesday night, September 10, 2024. Mr. Kelly was born August 18, 1938, in Denver, CO, the son of the late Joseph Raymond and Clara Berniece Collmar Kelly. Joe served our country honorably in the United States Air Force in the early ‘50s, and he retired as a truck driver from Pilot Freight Carriers after many years of service. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dora Ann Hatfield Kelly; his daughters and sons-in-law, Julia Marie McKinley, Kathleen Michaela and James David Pyatt, Linda C. and Charles H. Besore, and Theresa Ann Draughn; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph Thomas Kelly, Michael C. Kelly, Jay Andrew and Julianna Kelly, and Sean Steven and Bridgette Freeman Kelly; twenty-three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Michael Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Thomas Kelly; and a brother, Thomas Jerome Kelly. The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
