Joseph Jerman

January 1, 1972 - December 30, 2024

Joseph "Calvin" Jerman, Jr. passed away on December 30, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on January 1, 1972, Calvin entered the world as Bath County's first baby of the year, a special start to a life filled with love and laughter.
Calvin found joy in working with his hands, whether repairing a car, improving a home or tacking a new project. He had a passion for creating and enhancing, always striving to leave things better than he found them. His dogs, Lilo, Bo and Creed, were his faithful companions, bringing him constant comfort and joy. A proud Chevrolet enthusiast, Calvin found some of his great joys in attending car shows, where he spend time with his close group of friends, especially his sidekick, Rick McGlaughlin.
He is survived by his wife, Marybeth Jerman, who stood by his side and shared in everything life had to offer. Calvin also leaves behind his parents, Regina Edward Jerman and Joseph Jerman, Sr., who showered him with love and compassion throughout his life. He was a devoted brother to Tony Ryder and fiancé, Crystal Trout and Kevin Jerman and wife, Norma, and a proud uncle to Elizabeth Ashley Booth and husband, Tyler, Haley Jerman and Christian Jerman. He is also survived by two stepchildren, Colton Malone and Kaylee Malone.
He was preceded in death by two very special dogs, Abby and Maverick, who were his loyal friends, leaving him with cherished memories.
Calvin's perseverance was evident in everything he did. He never let his struggles define him. Instead, he focused on the things he loved: his family, his work and the satisfaction of fixing or building something with his own hands.
A service to celebrate Calvin's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alleghany Humane Society, 9313 Rich Patch Road, Covington, VA 24426 which connected Calvin with some of his dearest companions or to the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation.
