Joseph Lester Belcher

Joe Belcher, 84, of Woolwine, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2023 at Sovah Health in Martinsville, VA. He was born on January 1, 1939 to Wesley Green Belcher and Martha Wood Belcher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vera Lovell Belcher, one sister, Belle Hall, one brother, Allen Belcher and one grandson, Joseph Leon Belcher Jr.

He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His pride and joy were his grandbabies. He would walk for miles with Misty and Joey when they were younger trying to tire them out so he could go to sleep. He was a fan of the Virginia Cavaliers, the New York Yankees and the Wood Brothers Car 21. He would sit for hours and watch hummingbirds and feed squirrels.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Grace Underwood (Doyle) of Woolwine, VA, one son, Leon Belcher (Rita) of Critz, VA, one sister, Bertha Conner of Woolwine, VA, three brothers, Clifford “Tip” Belcher (Helen), Harless Belcher (Jackie), Edgar “Ed” Belcher (Carolyn), three grandchildren, Misty Belcher (Jeff), Joey Belcher (Amanda) and Zach Belcher (Melissa)

The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at Sycamore Baptist Church with Pastor Shaun Draughn officiating.

The family will receive friends half hour (1:30 pm to 2:00 pm) before the service on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
