Jovonna Irene Dodson

Ms. Jovonna Irene Dodson, 38, of Ridgeway, Virginia, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at her home. Jovonna was born on August 9, 1984, in Reidsville, North Carolina to her loving parents, Sharon McDuffie Dodson and Harold Douglas Dodson.She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Margaret S. McDuffie, and William C. McDuffie, Sr., and her paternal grandparents, Beatrice G. Dodson and Fred B. Dodson, Sr., aunts, Linda McDuffie, and Tammy McDuffie.Jovonna is survived by her mother - Sharon McDuffie Dodson of the home; father - Harold Douglas Dodson of Winston Salem, NC; two sisters – Jenell Kenna Wilkins (Heath) of Charlotte, NC, and Jerlene Dodson of the home; nephew – Gabriel Wilkins and niece – Elizabeth Wilkins both of Charlotte, NC; aunts – Patricia M. Penn (Richard) of Newport News, VA; Tonya M. Brown (Craig) of Burlington, NC; Monica N. McDuffie of Ridgeway, VA; Donna D. King (Danny) of Martinsville, VA; Lessie D. Vaughn (Curtis) of Winston Salem, NC; uncles – Jerry Smith (Bredina) and Calvin McDuffie (Doretha) both of Ridgeway, VA; Ulysses “Buster” Dodson (Ann) of Martinsville, VA; Thomas “Buddy” Dodson (Tasha ) of Columbia, SC; Timothy Dodson (Janice) of Axton, VA; Johnathan Dodson (Silke) of Killeen, TX; and Fred Dodson, Jr. (Lesha) of Charlotte, NC; and host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.The funeral service will be Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:30 AM, at Wright Funeral Service Chapel, with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery.  A floating visitation will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 1:00 PM- 5:00 PM.  Family requests social distancing be observed during visitation and funeral. Please be respectful of the families wishes.
