Joy "Cathy" Catherine Gusler

Joy Catherine “Cathy” Cummings Gusler, age 75, of 1908 Oakwood Drive, Clifton Forge died on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at The Woodlands Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.

Cathy was born on January 12, 1951 in Iron Gate, Virginia to the late Joseph Elmer and Mary McGann Low Cummings. She was a homemaker throughout her life, but also worked as a secretary for area organizations and was a salesperson for Mary Kay cosmetics. She was a member of Keyser Memorial Presbyterian Church in Iron Gate, and enjoyed spending time with flower gardening, and various other hobbies.

In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Hurt; and two brothers, Joseph B. Cummings and Larry Samuel Cummings.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Glenn Gusler of Clifton Forge; two sons, Edley Kent Gusler (Melinda) of Clifton Forge and Brantley Glenn Gusler (Jennifer) of North Palm Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Cindy Parker (Michael) and Matt Gusler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Robin Hall and Mr. Chris Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in Locust Bottom Cemetery, Eagle Rock, Virginia. The family will receive friends on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
