Joyce Brenda Carter Martin

Joyce Brenda Carter Martin, 81, of Axton, Virginia passed away Friday, December 27, 2024. She was born March 29, 1943, in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, to the late Everett Carter and Viola Hairston Carter.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henderson Martin; son, Derril Watkins; sister, Elizabeth Stokes; brothers, James Carter, Richard Carter, and Floyd Carter.Brenda was a dedicated employee of American Furniture Company for many years where she worked as a secretary. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling and being a member of the bowling league. Brenda’s greatest treasure was her family and spending quality time with them. She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.She is survived by her ex-husband, Melvin Watkins, Sr.; daughter, Antoinette Reese; son, Melvin Watkins, Jr.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Evangelical Holiness Church, 17340 Martinsville Highway, Axton, Virginia 24054, with Pastor Marvin Slade officiating. Interment will follow at Watkins Family Cemetery, 276 Coxy Lane, Axton, Virginia 24054.
