Joyce Marie Reynolds
Joyce Marie Reynolds, 74, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026, after a long and bravely fought battle with cancer. Joyce was born on June 3, 1952, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Jack Doss and Nancy Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, James Hodges and Michael Hodges.
If you were lucky enough to know Joyce, you knew she had a heart bigger than words could ever describe. She was the kind of person who loved deeply, gave freely, and always made sure the people she loved were taken care of. Her family was her greatest joy, and she never hesitated to put them first. Whether she was cooking a favorite meal, sharing a recipe, opening her home, or simply sitting around laughing with the people she loved, Joyce found her happiness in being surrounded by family.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. She treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, creating memories that will remain in their hearts forever.
She especially loved the holidays. Halloween and Christmas brought out her excitement and creativity as she decorated her home and prepared for the gatherings she loved so much. Her home became a place where family came together, where there was always something good cooking, stories being told, laughter filling the rooms, and memories being made. Those gatherings were more than celebrations—they were Joyce’s way of bringing the people she loved together.
Joyce also had a special love for animals. Her three beloved dogs, Mickey, Mimi, and Ben Ben, were an important part of her life and will surely feel the emptiness of her absence. Her love and compassion extended to every creature she cared for.
For 32 years, Joyce shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Daniel. Their love was one of deep companionship and devotion. Daniel describes Joyce as his rock and the best thing that ever happened to him. She stood beside him through life’s joys and hardships, and he stood beside her through her courageous fight with cancer. Even during the hardest days, Joyce continued to show the strength and determination that defined her.
Joyce fought bravely until the very end. While her family and friends wish they could have had more time with her, they can find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and free from the pain she endured.
Joyce leaves behind a lifetime of love and countless memories that will be carried forward by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Reynolds; son, Gary Gray (Carrie); daughter, Tammy East (Fred); sisters, Shirley Marcus, Ronda Carroll, and Freida Dylan; nephew, Michael Hodges (Heather); sister-in-law, JJ (Stacy) Belcher; mother-in-law, Judith Hall; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; dear friends, Jackie Stoltz, William Weaver, Tina Curry, Jessie Curry, and Destiny Marcus; and many special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Joyce will be scheduled at a later date. Bassett Funeral Service is serving the Reynolds family. Online condolences may be made at www. BassettFuneralService.com.
