Juanita DeJarnette Tyree
Juanita DeJarnette Tyree, 82, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
Born on December 21, 1943, in Halifax County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Drewie L. DeJarnette Sr. and Maggie Maddox DeJarnette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Moses Claywood Tyree; her grandson, Aaron; and five siblings, George C. DeJarnette, Ronald G. DeJarnette, Drewie L. DeJarnette Jr., James Ray DeJarnette, and Betty D. Martin.
Juanita was a member of Clearview Baptist Church and loved the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse was John 3:16, a verse that held special meaning to her. She shared 53 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Moses, and his passing left an absence she felt deeply. Her family finds comfort in knowing that they are now reunited again.
Juanita found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. She loved reading books, going out to eat, spending time with her family, going to the beach, and sewing. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with those she loved.
She leaves behind her three children, Judy Cooper (Jerry), Mark Tyree (Angie), and Greg Tyree (Kellie); six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Jamie, Cody (Chloe), Gunner, and Jacob; and eight great-grandchildren, Sydney, Daniel, Sierra, Autumn, Ashton, River, Aspen, and Grace.
The family extends a special thank you to family members Janet Booth and Debbie DeJarnette for helping Juanita with her many doctor appointments.
They also extend a heartfelt and special thank you to April Stinnette, Juanita’s home health nurse, who provided not only loving care and support but also developed a very close and meaningful bond with Juanita. They also express their sincere gratitude to all of the employees at Centra Radiology for their care and kindness during her weekly visits, as well as to Gentle Shepard Hospice for their care and support during this time.
While their hearts ache at her passing, Juanita’s family takes comfort in knowing that she is peacefully resting in the presence of her Savior.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor David Moquin officiating. Burial will follow the service at Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery.
