Judith Doggett Davis Obituary Judith Doggett Davis, 78, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 26, 1945, in Richmond, Va., to the late Nelson Robert and Eleanor Gilman Doggett, she is also preceded in death by her grandparents, Suzie G. Gilman and John G. Gilmond, both of Ashland, Va., as well as her sister, Carolyn Cromwell.Judy graduated from the Johnston-Willis Hospital School of Nursing and served for many years as a registered nurse and would become the program manager for Home Therapies. Judy enjoyed relaxing with a good book and reading with her friends as part of the Salem Novel Club. She also volunteered with the English-Speaking Union (ESU), an organization which serves to equip young people from across the world to speak more proficiently and with confidence. Judith was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Salem and played a vital role in both the Martha and Mary Guild and the Altar Guild. She was blessed with a servant’s heart which in turn, blessed everyone around her and her kindness and beautiful smile lit up every room she entered.Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Michelle (Richard) Stverack, Catherine Davis and Kymberleigh (John) Ricketts; grandson and light of her life, Barrett Ricketts; brothers, Gregory Doggett and Ronald Doggett; her dear cousin Betty Lee Stanley as well as numerous nephews and nieces.The family will welcome friends for a time of visitation on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Salem, with Rev. J. Edward officiating.The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospice and Care Advantage for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 42, E.
