Judy Scott Seay

Judy Scott Seay, 78, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025. Judy was born in Danville, VA on March 9, 1947 to the late Ruby Emma Simms Scott and the late Joseph Emerson Scott Sr.

Judy was of the Christian faith. She taught for 40 years as a Math Teacher with the Pittsylvania County School System with the last 35 of those years at Dan River High School, previous to her retirement. She was named teacher of the year in 1996-97. She was also a member of the Pilot Club, and had a special love for gardening and flowers.

Judy is survived by a son; Whit Seay and wife Stacye of Hayes, VA; three sisters; Jo Ann Scott of Danville, VA, Pat Daniels (Terry) of South Boston, VA, and Marsha Scott of Dry Fork, VA; one grandson; Ryan Seay; as well as her loving caregivers.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by a son; Christopher Ryan Seay; a brother; Joseph E. Scott Jr.; maternal grandparents; Charlie Este Simms and Nettie Belle Martin Simms; and paternal grandparents; David Luther Scott and Bessie Lipford Scott.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 11:00am at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2026 from 6-7:30pm also at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, VA. At other times the family will receive friends and family at the residence of her sister, Jo Ann Scott.
