Katherine Coutta Medley

Katherine “Cookie” Elaine Coutta Medley, 83, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born July 12, 1941, in Winchester, Tennessee, to the late Hosma Coutta and Mary Catherine Sugg Coutta.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Don Coutta and Butch Coutta.

“Cookie” was an LPN from the state of Tennessee. She loved nursing and worked in the field for over forty years. Cookie loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved her family deeply. She adored her pet dog Nick who was a favorite and her many rescued cats. Cookie always enjoyed sitting out on her front porch in the evenings and listening to the owls. A huge thank you to all the caregivers from Mountain Valley Hospice and Mulberry Creek Health and Rehab.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey Eugene Medley and Timothy Scott Medley; daughter, Gina Ashbrook (Paul); sister, Patricia Mersier; grandchildren, Mitchell Dunagan (Heather), Emily Ashbrook, Dustin Medley, Mary Pritchett (Anthony), and Sean Medley; great grandchildren, Natalie Dunagan, Paisley Dunagan, Everlee Wilson, Andre Pritchett, and Kylan Pritchett; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

All services will be private.
