Katherine Vernon Joyce

Katherine Vernon Joyce, 92, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at Tender Years Nursing Home. She was born April 30, 1930 in Henry County, Virginia, to the late Peter D. Vernon and Effie Carter Vernon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edward L. Joyce; sisters, Mary Ellen Hill and Vera Flanagan; and brothers, Robert Vernon and Frank Vernon. Katherine had been employed by Sara Lee Knitting Company for 36 years. She was a member of Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church where she had served as Sunday School teacher, member of the Deacon Board, and Women’s Ministries President; and had been a member of the Smith Memorial Trio for 50 years. She is survived by her nieces, nephews, and many friends. The funeral will be Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3978 Horsepasture Price Road, Martinsville, Virginia, wth Rev. Barry Crumpton officiating. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 711 Church Street, Ridgeway, Virginia.
