Kathleen Ryder Stone

Kathleen Ryder Stone, 94, of Roanoke, passed away on April 2, 2025. Kathleen was born on January 6, 1931. She graduated from Greenbank High School and attended Concord College where she met the love of her life, Todd.

During Kathleen’s life she worked for Huttig-Sach and Door, Roanoke County Public Schools, and part-time for Roanoke City Public Schools. A long-time member of Fairview United Methodist Church, with over 65 years of service, her activities included singing as a member of the choir, Sunday School Teacher, youth leader with the UMYF, as well as numerous committee assignments and church activities.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Galen “Todd” Stone; parents, Stewart and Verlie Nottingham Ryder; sister, Marguerite Miles; brothers, Richard, Leon, Harold, and Charles Ryder; brother-in-law, Christian Kiene and sister-in-law, June Ryder.

She is survived by her daughters, Tereasa Gilbert and husband Thomas, Tereana Pendleton and husband Terry; son, Jeffrey Stone; grandchildren, Vanessa York (John), Amy Gilbert, Jennifer Boyce (Alan), Emily Hart (Hunter), David Stone, Renee` Saladon (Nat); great-grandchildren, Carter and Cara York; sisters, Carolyn Kiene and Joyce Ann Carpenter; sister-in-law, Marlene Ryder; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family.

A graveside service will be held at a later date for the family.
