- April 30, 2025

Kathryn (Ryn) Delaney Jarvis, 21, passed away unexpectedly on April 30th 2025 in Blacksburg, VA. She was a native of Virginia Beach. She was a truly remarkable young woman with an adventurous spirit. She loved hiking in the mountains, cycling, running, music, art, ice hockey (HUGE Caniac), gardening, and being a Hokie. She was an avid reader and lifelong learner who has most recently taken up playing bass guitar and crochet. At the time of her death, she was a Junior, Biochemistry Major working toward a minor in French at Virginia Tech. She has maintained Dean’s List every semester and volunteered at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC. Before enrolling at Virginia Tech, she attended New Castle elementary school, and later the Old Donation School (ODS) before graduating from the Health Sciences Academy at Bayside High School in Virginia Beach. At Bayside High School, she was an Honor student, played Varsity Field Hockey, Club Lacrosse, and was a founding member of the underground chess club. She is survived by her parents William and Laura, her sister Emily, brother Connor, grandparents Eddie and Lynn Gardiner of Virginia Beach and Mary Jarvis of Manchester, CT and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She dearly loved her family and friends, was loyal and passionate in her pursuits. We are thankful for the time we were able to spend with her and the love she brought to this world. We shall miss her forever. A remembrance reception will be held for friends and associates at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg on Monday, May 5th from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held in Virginia Beach at a later date.
