Kathy Lynn Rice

Kathy Lynn Rice passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2026, at the age of 62.

Born on March 17, 1964, in Roanoke, she was the daughter of Shelby Overstreet and the late Freddie Overstreet.

She was preceded in death by her father, Freddie Overstreet; her sister, Louis Potter; and her niece, Ashley Barton.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Shelby Overstreet (J.C.); her beloved twin sons, Brandon Rice and Braxton Rice; her brother, Wesley Overstreet (Stephanie); her nieces, Carly Overstreet and Olivia Ellis; and her nephews, Chase Potter, and Justin Barton.

Kathy was a hardworking woman who truly loved her job at Glenn Robinson Cathy Skaff & White PLC. She especially loved St. Patrick's Day, which also happened to be her birthday. Kathy enjoyed collecting Sabika necklaces and Longaberger baskets, and she had a special talent for wreath making.

She also loved gardening and planting flowers, and during the summer months you could often find Kathy relaxing by the pool, swimming or soaking up the sun.

Kathy took great pride in caring for her vehicles and belongings and believed strongly in taking care of the things she loved. She treasured spending time with others, especially bringing family together and creating lasting memories with those she loved most.

Above all else, Kathy was a loving and devoted mother who loved her twin boys with all her heart, and the absolute best dog mama to paris who she loved so very much.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 in the Mausoleum of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
