Kendra Lea Spangler

Kendra Lea Spangler, born October 4, 1964, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2026. Kendra lived her life with a charismatic personality, a wonderful sense of humor, and a caring heart. She built a career as an insurance underwriter and was deeply loved and respected by her coworkers, who appreciated not only her knowledge and dedication but also the laughter and warmth she brought to those around her. Kendra had a way of making people feel comfortable and welcomed, and she was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Family was at the heart of Kendra’s life. She was a devoted grandmother who treasured her grandchildren and the time they shared. She also loved traveling and creating memories with family and friends. Some of her happiest times were spent at Smith Mountain Lake, where she enjoyed the beauty of the lake and the company of the people she loved. Kendra’s vibrant personality, quick wit, generous spirit, and genuine care for others made her unforgettable. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and countless memories that will be cherished by all who knew her. Though her passing was unexpected, the love she gave so freely will remain with her family, friends, and coworkers forever. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Spangler; son, Daniel Raines and his wife, Elsie, and their sons, Samuel and Maxwell; daughter, Allison Raines; stepchildren, Alicia Spangler, David Spangler, and his wife Amanda, and their son, William; and Kendra’s parents, Christina and Joseph “Joe” Ballard; sisters, Christina “Tina” Ballard and Melissa Ballard; brother, Kurt Ballard and his wife, Chastity; along with her nieces and nephews, Courtney “Gigi” and Jeffrey Raines; Reagan, Chance and Jackson Ballard. Kendra will be deeply missed and forever remembered by the many people whose lives she touched. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:30 am at the Train Station, 1402 South Jefferson Street, Roanoke, Va.
