Kenneth Wayne Bowling

February 5, 1956 - May 3, 2025

We must announce with great sadness that our cherished Kenneth Wayne Bowling of Amherst, Virginia went to his eternal home on May 3, 2025. He was born February 5, 1956 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He was preceded in his passing by his son, Keith, his sister Barbara, and his parents Jesse Jr. and Helen Mays Bowling. The 69 years he lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a dad, a papa, an uncle and a friend.

Kenny loved old cars, yard sales, building models and spending time with family. He especially loved his trips to New York with his sisters and Christmas with his grandkids. There was never a dull moment to watch him flat foot with siblings and light up the room. He played many roles in his life from auto and tire mechanic to painter, roofer, rollback operator, and landscaper. He even worked on a shrimp boat when he lived in Tampa, Florida. But his favorite roles were father (Dad) and grandfather (Poppa).

He was an example to others that when you set your mind to something it can be done. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more that were touched by his love, kindness, and generosity. We ask that you remember him for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Kenny will be remembered for his crooked smile, baritone voice, and his willingness to help others. Though Kenny may not have liked being the center of attention but he was a man that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Angela; his daughter Crystal (David); and his grandsons Dakota, Brayden, Colten, and Easton. He also leaves behind his best friend and brother, Jesse (Rhonda) and 4 loving sisters, Patricia (Louie), Diane (John), Janet (Tim), and Karen (Danny). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 2:00 PM at Driskill Funeral Chapel in Amherst. Pastor Jack Thomas will be officiating. Family and friends are welcome to share stories about how Kenny touched their lives after the sermon.

We find comfort in knowing that Kenny lives on through lessons taught, love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
