Kent Alan Drinkard
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Kent Alan Drinkard, of Rustburg, on November 1, 2024 at the age of 66.Born on February 14, 1958 in Hopewell, VA. Kent proudly served in the United States Air Force, a testament to his enduring patriotism and dedication to duty. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a Machinist, where he continued to demonstrate his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.An ardent lover of the great outdoors, Kent could often be found on one of his Harleys, traversing the winding roads with the wind against his face, kayaking or canoeing down a river, or in one of his boats with a fishing rod in hand. His love for nature was profound and provided him, and those who were with him, endless joy and peace.Kent was a beloved figure in his community, known for his generosity, infectious laugh, and the incredible stories he shared of his adventures both overseas and in the wilds of nature. He is survived by his wife Mary Drinkard, brother Bart Drinkard (Rita Drinkard), nephew David Drinkard (Charity Drinkard), niece Kelly Perrow (Waller Perrow), nephew Robbie Drinkard, Cousins Lynn Hudson, Jo and Shelly Evans, step-son, Matthew Chenault, step-son Timothy Hudson (Heather), step-daughters, Samantha Castro (Mike), and Michelle Parsons (Richard). His beloved grandchildren: Kaitlin, Sarah, and Lily Castro and Bryce, Jax, and Jett Carter as well as Liam Hudson in addition, Kent leaves behind a community of friends who were as close as family. Kent was predeceased by his parents Robert Drinkard and Francis Drinkard Rock as well as his brother and sister-in-law Mike and Gayle Drinkard. A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 3pm at the home of David and Charity Drinkard- 143 Phoebe Pond Rd. Concord, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Friends of Campbell County Animal Control- New Building Fund.Kent's life was a bold adventure, marked by an unstoppable spirit that inspired everyone around him. We take comfort knowing that he is now charting the boundless beyond, with the sun as his compass and the wind in his sails. Forever pursuing the next big adventure, He lived as he died—riding boldly towards the horizon, his spirit as free and untamed as the roads he loved. His spirit will forever live on in each of those who were fortunate to know and love him.
