Larry Ray Shanaberger
Larry Shanaberger, 83, went home to be with his Lord & Savior on Friday, May 22, 2026. Larry loved the Lord, which is why he started each morning with prayers and reading his Bible. He also loved his church and his church family dearly.
Larry was born on November 21, 1942 in Pennsylvania. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years in Alaska, where he first fell in love with the beautiful state. As an avid outdoorsman, Larry enjoyed fishing as well as woodwork. Larry also had an eye for invention and design, whether it was drawing blueprints for his church or using his tools to create projects at home in his garage. Larry retired from Greif Paper where he had worked as an Equipment Operator.
Those who knew Larry understood that he was a man of few words, but when he had a good story or joke to share, he didn’t hold back. His family and friends are blessed to have enjoyed his dry sense of humor.
Larry is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Martha, of almost fifty-one years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert W. Shanaberger and Geneve D. Shanaberger, his brother, Bobby Shanaberger and his wife June, his sister Carol Blanks, and brother-in-law Bob Hasson. Larry is survived by his sisters Kathy Brightwell and her husband Bobby, Cheryl Hasson, and brother-in-law Mike Blanks.
A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 starting at 11:00 AM with a one hour prior visitation. The service is to be held at Faith Baptist Church of Madison Heights with Dr. Dan Reichard and Pastor Seth Campbell officiating. In lieu of flowers please consider making memorial contributions to Faith Baptist Church. Norris Funeral Services – Driskill Chapel is serving the family.
