Laura Patterson Pinckney Lefkowitz

- April 19, 2025

Our precious Laura Patterson, only 35, left us far too early following a short battle with cancer. In her few years, she lived life fully and with faith in Jesus that He died in her place to give her eternal life. Laura was fun, creative, capable, devoted, and spunky. She graduated from Radford University with a bachelor of science in art, with highest honors, and while at one point holding three jobs simultaneously. Her last position before illness intervened was as director of Tree of Life Daycare, where she had worked for seven years. She leaves behind her parents, Frank and Margaret Pinckney, of Blacksburg; a sister, Elizabeth (Justin) Claeys, of Ruckersville, Virginia; a brother, Doug (Jennifer) Pinckney, of Riner, Virginia; three nieces, Lyza, Colleen, and Claire; and two nephews, Arik and Weston. Dearest to her heart of those left behind are her daughter, Essa Jae, and her husband, Jesse Lefkowitz. A service celebrating Laura’s life will be held Saturday, April 26, at 10:00am, at the Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship, followed by a reception of light refreshments. Laura specifically requested that no one wear black or any other somber color. The service will be live streamed to accommodate those who cannot attend in person. (dpnrv.org) Laura loved flowers during her earthly stay, but for anyone desiring to express their love in the form of a financial contribution, please direct it either to a fund for Essa at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-essas-future-in-memory-of-laura, or to Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship in Christiansburg, the body of believers with whom Laura worshiped.
