Laurie Elizabeth McGee

Miss Laurie Elizabeth McGee, 63, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Surry Community Health Center by Harborview. Miss McGee was born July 30, 1962, in Surry County, to the late Edward Lee McGee, Jr. and Sarah Hegler McGee. She was a 1980 graduate of Mount Airy High School and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Mark H. Towe; and her special friend and caregiver, Donna Krause. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anne McGee Towe; her brother, Alan McGee; and her nephew, Zachary Towe. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 714 North Main Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
