Lc Phillip Belton
LC Phillip Belton, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the age of 90. Mr. Belton was born in Mount Airy on December 20, 1935, to the late L. Caine Belton and Iva “Jewel” Shackleford Belton. He married the love of his life, Opal Faye in 1956. Mr. Belton farmed for most of his life and owned/operated Belton Shoe Shop in Mount Airy until he retired in April 1998. In his spare time, he loved to spend time with his family, or he could be found deer hunting. Left to cherish his memories are his sons and daughter-in-law, LC Phillip Belton, Jr. and Susan, Chad Belton; grandchildren, Abbigail Taylor and Christopher, Mackenzie Wilson and Austin; great grandchildren, Adalyn Taylor, Harper Taylor, Emerson Wilson, and one on the way, Sophie Wilson; three nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents, LC was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Opal Faye Hall Belton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Belton and Mary Lou, Bob Belton and Wanda, James Belton and Mary Good Belton. A celebration to honor Mr. Belton’s life will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy with the Dr. Johnathan Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 10:00 AM until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice PO 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moodys of Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Belton family.
