Leara Adkins Rigney

Leara Adkins Rigney, 79, passed away peacefully at her residence on July 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Leara was born in Franklin County, VA on February 2, 1947 to the late Lessie Haley Adkins and the late Tommy J. Adkins. She is survived by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Ronald James Rigney.

Leara was of the Christian Faith, and a member of the Tabernacle. She worked for many years as a florist in Danville, previous to her retirement.

In addition to her husband, Leara is survived by a son; Ronald Jeffrey Rigney of Danville, VA; one brother; Mike Adkins of Martinsville, VA; one sister; Burnice Eversole of Tampa, FL; a grandson; Caleb Rigney of Lynchburg, VA; and a granddaughter; McKenzie Gray Rigney or Richmond, VA.

In addition to her parents, Leara was predeceased by two sons; Stephen Gray Webb and Barry Wayne Rigney; a brother; Dewey Adkins; and four sisters; Katherine Herndon, Deanna Collins, Betty Motley, and Ethel Poindexter.

A graveside interment will take place at Liberty Christian Church at a later date.
