Leon Leftwich

Leon Leftwich, 89, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026. Leon was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on January 29, 1937 to the late Viola Cunningham Leftwich and the late Dorsey Leftwich Sr. He is survived by his wife; Gladys Smith Leftwich.

Leon was of the Christian Faith. He was a Sanding operator at America Furniture Company for many years, previous to his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Leon is survived by a son; Steven Leftwich; four grandchildren; Jeremy, Terrell, Alicia, and Bernita; and a whole host of loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by one son; Bernie Leftwich; two sisters; Lillie Law and Nannie Johnson; and five brothers; Dorsey Leftwich Jr., Percy Leftwich, Harry Leftwich, Sam Leftwich, and William Leftwich.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday June 6, 2026 at 2:00pm at Mount Tatum Primitive Baptist Church, 820 West Sunrise Drive, Dry Fork, VA 24549 with Pastor Jimmy L. Tarpley and Pastor Terrell Woods presiding. Interment will immediately follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held on the same day prior to the service from 1-2:00pm.
