Leonard Ray Brooks

Mr. Leonard Ray Brooks, 75 of Mount Airy, passed away at his home on Monday May 18, 2026. He was born on May 9, 1951, in Surry County to the late Marshall and Lillie Tolbert Brooks. Mr. Brooks retired from United Plastics after 54 dedicated years. He is survived by a daughter, Felicia Brooks Tolbert; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Amanda Brooks; three grandchildren, Emily Brooks Haithcock and Seth, Andrew Brooks and fiancé Perla Sosa, and Harley Ann Brooks; sister, Cathy Hodges; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Vickie Jean Coalson Brooks; an infant daughter, Shirley Jean Brooks; and two brothers, Lester Ray Brooks and Jerry Lee Brooks. A graveside service will be held at Laurel Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Friday May 22, 2026, at 2:00pm with Pastor Tim Burton. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy on Friday from 12:30 until 1:30pm. The Brooks family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his neighbors for all of their love, care, and support throughout the years.
