Lillian "Nette" Finnette Martin

September 8, 1952 - August 12, 2026

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Lillian Finnette “Nette” Martin, 73, of 212 Sellers Street, Martinsville, Virginia, transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life at her residence. She was born in Martinsville, Virginia, on September 8, 1952, to the late Jesse D. and Elsie W. Millner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Martin; one brother, Jessie D. Millner; and two sisters, Gloria Jean Harris and Neana B. Millner.

Nette was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a graduate of Martinsville High School and furthered her education at Patrick Henry Community College, where she earned an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing. Nette’s ministry and passion were serving as a Registered Nurse, and she retired from SOVAH Health Martinsville. God truly blessed her hands to care for the sick, as well as to support their families. If her hands touched you in your sickness, you felt God’s touch through her anointed healing hands.

Nette loved her church family and enjoyed praising and worshiping God. She was the epitome of Psalm 100:4: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise.” She was known as the “Caring Rock” to many within her family circle.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, LaDonna M. Hairston and LaToya R. Martin, both of Martinsville, Virginia; two grandsons, Machaun O. (Tanesha) Moore, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and Ishmael J. (Carla) Hairston of Martinsville, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Jalil, Nyla, Sage, and Palo; two sisters, Monique Jamison and Loretta Martin; six sisters-in-law, Andrea Mullins, Lois Diane Martin Hairston, Cheryl (Joerome) Morrison, Beryl Penn, Levica (Randolph) Yates, and Jolette P. Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends and visitors at the residence, located at 212 Sellers Street, Martinsville, Virginia 24112, between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Gethsemane Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2380 Blackberry Road, Bassett, Virginia. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to the service, from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM. Pastor Carl White will officiate, and Bishop Gordon Warren will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
