Linda Schurz-Vaught

December 25, 1960 - November 29, 2023

Linda Schurz-Vaught, 62, of Providence Forge, VA passed away November 29, 2023 at her home. In the midst of a 27-month battle with an exceptionally rare cancer, Linda departed for heaven with her family at her side. Though there is grief over her physical absence, they never lost hope and belief in a miracle, offering thanks and praise to Jesus for the eternal joy of heaven. Linda is now healthy and free, face to face with the One she wholeheartedly loved.

Linda married Ron Vaught on April 24, 2013. Linda and her husband Ron serve as senior pastors at The River Church in Toano, Virginia and The ROC in Charles City County, Virginia.

Linda is, a worshipper, a warrior, a fighter, a giver and a servant of Jesus and her work is just getting started. Linda could often be found within the cancer center praying with another patient or staff member, encouraging them in the Lord. She was affectionately known as the “Rock Star” of the cancer center due to her infectious optimism and positive attitude even when she wasn’t feeling well! There was hardly anyone else who could light up a room like Linda with her love and kindness for all.

Linda loved learning and spent much time deeply pursuing the truths of His Word. Her favorite pastimes were serving other’s needs, soaking in the presence of God with worship music, and spending time with her grandchildren. She found her greatest joy in being a wife, a mom, and a grandma.

Linda was not only a wife to Ron Vaught, but they were also best friends and will be forever. She is Mom to Mike Schurz, Jamie Schurz (Brittany), Clark Schurz (Moriah) and Kelly Moore (Brett); stepmom to Kate Larson (Erik), Jessica Page (Stephen), Tim Vaught (Brittany), and Jacob Vaught (Lexi); Grandma to her nine grandchildren, Bella and Charlie Page, Hayden, Norah, and Calvin Schurz, Hudson Schurz, Sawyer and Avery Vaught, and Jack Larson, who were all fully loved by their Mimi. She is also missed by her loving siblings, Virginia (Bobby) Sharitz and Jimmy (Venus) Newbill; nieces and nephews; and so many more extended family members and friends from all over the world; as well as her beloved River Church family.

Linda’s life will be celebrated at 1 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at LifePointe Church, 8841 Richmond Road, Toano, VA. 23168.

A graveside service will be held at the Newbill Family Cemetery (Franklin County), 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 10, 2023.
