Linda Stewart Tribby
Linda Stewart Tribby, born May 9, 1949, is the daughter of the late James and Mozelle Stewart.
Linda is survived by her husband, Jerry Tribby; her daughters, Barbara Mitchem Williamson and Shannon Saunders (John); her grandchildren, DJ Creasey, Bobby Creasey, Tyler Creasey, Leanna Mitchem, and Timothy Blake; her sister, Shirlene Rudder and her sister Brenda Yvonne Massey, with whom she shared a special bond. She was preceded in death by her sons, Harold Mitchem and Darrell Mitchem, her grandson, Stevan Blake, and two sisters, Judith Goins and Faye Hamlett.
Linda dedicated much of her working life to Dan River Mills, where she worked for 31 years, including time in human resources. She later served for five years with Pittsylvania County Schools, where she was a beloved aide to children with disabilities. Her patience, kindness, and steady presence left a lasting impact on the students and families she worked with.
She was a member of the Bachelor Hall Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Liberty Baptist Church.
Linda will be remembered as funny, strong, stubborn, and generous-a woman who spoke her mind, loved deeply, and showed up for the people she cared about. She had a special way of staying connected, often calling just to check in, and she never ended a message without reminding those she loved, “I love you the moistest.”
She found joy in life’s quieter moments-tending to her flowers, walking along the beach and boardwalk, and sitting on her back terrace overlooking the trees, a place she lovingly called her “happy place.” Whether at home or by the ocean, she appreciated peace, beauty, and time to reflect.
Linda was assured in her faith and the promise of eternal life. During her illness, she often said, “I win either way,” finding peace in knowing that whether she remained here with her loved ones or went home to be with Jesus, she was secure in her faith.
Her sense of humor, her strength, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who know and love her.
