Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. . .

Martin and Me Dean, a farmer, and a homemaker, in Scott County, VA on October 9th, 1939. She graduated from Hamilton High School in Mendota, VA. Lora was a dedicated employee of Belk Department Store for over 25 years as well as numerous years as a substitute teacher in the public school system.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Henderson; siblings, Clinton Dean, Herbert Dean, Kate Millard, and Betty Perkins.

Lora was blessed with a loving family. She married her best friend, Harry Everett Henderson, on June 17th, 1960. Lora helped raise her children with patience, discipline, and humility. She taught them the ways of the world and instilled in them a passion for family and service.

Lora was a servant of Christ through the Frist Baptist Church of Ridgeway and a caregiver to her community by instilling her guidance to the youth in her trust. She was kind and softly spoken, always had time to help someone in need, and never met a stranger in her travels. Lora spent her time sewing, embroidering, and enjoying the company of her friends, family, and church family. Her community, friends, and loved ones, will dearly miss her.

Lora is survived by her two sons, Michael Henderson (Renee) and Chris Henderson (Becky); her honorary daughter, Denise Emerson (Earl); her grandchildren, Kait Cifka, Tyler Henderson, Austin Henderson, Matthew Henderso (Emily), Logan Emerson, Michael Van Hout (Heather), Julianne Dicandio (Alex), and Daniel Van Hout; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Henley Cifka; siblings, Virginia Pippin, Jean Bowles, Oscar Dean (Joyce), Howard Dean (Janie), and Verlin Dean (Daisy); as well as many other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Ridgeway Shoe Box Ministry Fund.
