Lorene Joyce

Lorene Virginia Ward Joyce went home to be with her Savior on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 after an earthly sojourn of 97 years. She was born in Rockingham County, NC, and spent her youth living in various locations in the state until she married David Elmer Joyce. They traveled together extensively while he was in the Navy. He preceded her in death, as did her parents, Gurnie Lee Ward and Elsie Strader Ward, and younger siblings Doris Ward Turner, and Marvin Ward. She is survived by daughter Donna and her husband Chris Lynch, daughter Terri Kinsey, and son Bryon and his wife Laurie Joyce. Also surviving are her grandchildren Jordan and James Plott. She lived a life defined by faith, service to others, hard work, and love for her family. She found joy in God's creation, especially flowers. The family would like to express much gratitude to her caregivers, Becky, Jericka, Nevaeh, and extra special thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice.
