Loretta Brown

Loretta Brown Loretta Marcell Wimmer Brown, 94, of Narrows, VA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025, at her home.  Loretta was born on November 1, 1930, in Penvir, Giles County, VA and was a daughter of the late Raymond Ceward Wimmer and Ina Clara Warner Wimmer.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Bailey Bowles and her second husband, Richard Byron Brown and 2 brothers, John Wimmer and Calvin Wimmer.

Loretta was a lifelong resident of Narrows.  She was a devoted wife, mother, caregiver and was loved by everyone.  She loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was a lifelong member of the Cedar Grove Church of Christ in Wolf Creek and loved her church family dearly.   

She is survived by 1 son, Byron W. Brown of Narrows, 4 daughters, Darlene B. Akers (Danny) of Floyd, Marcella Farris of Moneta, Lynne Robertson of Narrows,  Gale Wilhelm (Ray) of Vinton, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother, Danny Wimmer of Clarksville, TN, 3 sisters, Brenda Hilton of Floyd, Agnes Callahan of Roanoke, Carol White (Tennis) of Whitsett, NC and 2 special caregivers, love by her and all the family, Rebecca Munsey and Tammy Davis.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11am at the Ferrell Cemetery in Narrows (Wolf Creek) with Minister Harold Goins officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Cedar Grove Church of Christ, c/o Jack Jones, 3265 Wolf Creek Rd., Narrows, VA 24124 or to any charity of your choice.
