Lorraine Semones Spraker

August 17, 1938 - April 11, 2024

Lorraine Semones Spraker, 85, of Roanoke, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, April 11, 2024. She was born on August 17, 1938, to the late Heath and Belle Nixon Semones in Carroll County, Va. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dickey Wilson Spraker.

Lorraine was raised in Wytheville, Va., one of her first jobs was working the candy counter at Central Drug Store. After their marriage and moving to Roanoke, Lorraine cared for her mother-in-law, Ruth, who lived in the home for 19 years. She also managed to hold several jobs. She was a dental assistant and later a receptionist for Dr. Hugh Lee, worked as a Welcome Wagon hostess and was an Avon lady. She most enjoyed her time as a pharmacy tech for Super X.

She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Salem, since 1960, and served in different positions. She was active in Sunday School and circles and loved keeping the membership up-to-date through emails. She also wrote memorials for the church for many years.

Above all she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved having family around and hosting get-togethers.

Family remaining to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carol Adams (Dennis) and Donna Earwood (Donald); grandchildren, Scott Adams (Jenna), Eric Adams (Carissa), and Maggie Earwood; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Madelyn, Braydon and Claire; sisters, Elaine Sult, Pat Cale, and Nancy Tucker; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church in Salem. Services to honor her life will follow, starting at 2 p.m. Rev. Bryan Buckles, along with her sons-in-law, Rev. Dennis Adams and Rev. Donald Earwood will officiate. Following the service she will be laid to rest privately alongside her husband, Dickey at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Roanoke, Va.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central United Methodist Church in Salem.
