Louise Freeman Barker

July 23, 1942 - May 19, 2026

Louise, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 83 in her home early Tuesday morning. She was preceded in death by her father, John Roy Freeman; mother, Elva Orren Freeman; brothers Junior, Bobby & Howard Freeman and sisters Dorothy Lloyd, Nancy Griffith, Mildred Dickenson & Margaret McDaniel.

Louise was also preceded in death by the love of her life, and husband for nearly 58 years, Jimmy Barker.

She is survived by beloved nieces and nephews, Marty (Lorrie) Griffith; Michael (Stephanie) Freeman; Michelle McDaniel; John Lloyd & Denise (David) Hudson. Louise was also preceded in death by her nephew, Tony (Sharon) Lloyd & her niece Robin Morrison.

Louise loved her family and her church. Although she and Jimmy did not have children, she had a mothering instinct and was such a loving & inspirational lady to her nieces and nephews.

Louise & Jimmy were inseparable. They were a true love story. They loved the Lord and were delighted in serving and attending their church. They looked forward to their travel adventures like the bus trips they went on and so loved their beach trips to Emerald Isle. They also had a warm affection for their pets, namely their beloved dog Izzy.

A funeral service for Ms. Barker will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 1:30 pm at Norris Funeral Services – West End Chapel with Pastor Chris Robertson officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 12:30 pm, also at the funeral home. Internment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
