Today I found peace, now the journey continues
Lucian Thomas Bias, 95, of Roanoke departed this mortal life on Sunday, September 15, 2024. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Bias; parents, Homer and Gladys Bias; sisters, Phyllis Warner, Gladys Pitchford; and Linda Hager.
Lucian was born on September 22, in Huntington, West Virginia. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1952 and often reflected on his time with pride and honor. He retired from Appalachian Power Company after 42 years of service.
Mr. Bias was a loving Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He was proud of his family and loved to share stories of his past with them. The family will always cherish the times spent listening to his stories that reflected his love of West Virginia, especially “Bias Branch,” his family, and for the United States Marine Corp.
Surviving are his five children, Samuel Bias (Donna), Bruce Bias (Barbara), Sue Bias, Richard Bias (Angela) and Thomas Bias (Jennifer); Grandchildren, Brian Bias (Todd), Kimberly Heck (Chris), Derek Ergenbright, Sarah, Darren (Amber), and Jeremy Bias; Great Grandchildren, Mackenzie and Riley Heck, Lincoln Ergenbright, and Aiden Lopez.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mo and Paula, two wonderful private caregivers for the outstanding care given in the home, the staff at South Roanoke Nursing Home, especially Emma, who provided outstanding care and the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their support for the family and comfort for him.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in his honor be made to Angels of Assisi’s or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
