Lucy Brubaker Reed

Lucy B. Reed, age 96, of Roanoke County passed away at her home Thursday, April 20, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Reed, Sr. her parents, Henry and Nannie Brubaker, her step-mother, Mary Brubaker, eight brothers, two sisters, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker her entire life. Surviving are two sons, Harold Jr. (Butch) and Virginia of Roanoke, James and Leona of Hillsboro, WI., five daughters, Marie and Byron Huffman of Roanoke, Carol and Gerald Hubbard of Fincastle, Rebecca and Daniel Bauman of Mesa, WA. Lois and Gene Brunk of Union City, OH and Gail and Ron Crist of Bradford, OH, 37 grandchildren, 156 great-grandchildren, and 48 great-great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Miriam Reed of Grandview, MO, with many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Peters Creek Old German Baptist Brethren Church 7645 Wood Haven Rd, Roanoke 24019. The burial will follow in Brubaker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Monday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Her family suggests memorials to the charity of one’s choice.
