Lula Ramsey

June 4, 1941 - March 4, 2023

Lula “Catherine” Ramsey was born on June 4, 1941 to the late Pearl Harris Ramsey and the late Willie “Mack” Ramsey. On Friday, March 3, 2023 Catherine gained her reward. Catherine was also preceded in death by her husband Arthomas Romo Smith, Anthony Ramsey (son), Alberta Strother and Marie Ramsey (sisters) and William Ramsey (brother). Catherine graduated from Lee M. Waid School and attended Wilberforce University in Wilberforce. Ohio. Catherine moved to New York City after leaving Wilberforce University where she spent a vast majority of her life and met the love of her life; the late Arthomas Romo Smith. Cathy (as she was affectionately known) served lovingly for over 40 years at IHOP in Bronx, NY. She took pride and great joy in her years of service and was loved and respected by everyone. Cathy returned home to Rocky Mount in 2013 and reinstated her membership with her home church and family at Bethel AME church in Rocky Mount, VA. Those left to lovingly cherish and appreciate her beautiful life are her son, Arron R Smith of Columbus, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Shardonia Paguada (Duncan), Arronia Smith, Catria (Aasha) Smith all of Columbus, Ohio, Nicole Ramsey, Brittany Ramsey, T.J. Ramsey all of Virginia Beach, VA, and Ava Grace Smith of Lithonia, GA; Five Great-Grandchildren, Mila Paguada, Brielle Johnson, Trinity Paguada, Ilias Paguada all of Columbus, Ohio and Isaac Anthony of Virginia Beach, VA. One Daughter-In-Law, Regina Ramsey of Virginia Beach, VA and One sister, Mae Roy Ramsey, One Niece Robin Strother, and One Great Niece Maya Simmons, her IHOP Family, and a host of other relatives and friends. Mom, “You were the greatest mom a boy could ever have.” Love you Always, Arron. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
